Haringey couple fined for fraudulent use of Blue Badge

A couple in Haringey has been fined a total of £785 and now holds a criminal record for the fraudulent use of a family member’s Blue Badge to evade parking fees. The badge, reported as lost, was found displayed in their vehicle near the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the badge belonged to the husband’s father, who was not present at the event. The couple further attempted to mislead the council by providing false information. Both individuals pleaded guilty at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court; the husband was fined £212, and the wife £573. Councillor Seema Chandwani emphasized the council’s commitment to enforcing Blue Badge regulations to protect the rights of genuine holders.
