Five new disabled parking bays on streets in Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Hunmanby approved by North Yorkshire Council
North Yorkshire Council has approved the installation of five new residential disabled parking bays at the following locations:
- 1 Spring Vale, Whitby
- 2 Park Street, Scarborough
- 28 Stonegate, Hunmanby
- 45 Stepney Avenue, Scarborough
- 68 Grange Avenue, Filey
These additions aim to enhance accessibility for residents with mobility challenges. The council’s decision followed a thorough assessment process, including public consultations and evaluations of each site’s suitability.
Additionally, the council has approved the removal of an existing disabled parking bay at 18 Park Terrace, Whitby, as the original applicant has moved away, and no current residents require the facility.
However, a proposed bay at 20 Holbeck Hill, Scarborough, was not approved after it was confirmed that the applicant had relocated, leaving no blue badge holders at that address.
The estimated cost for installing each disabled parking bay is approximately £1,250, bringing the total expenditure for the five new bays to around £6,250.
These measures reflect North Yorkshire Council’s commitment to supporting residents with disabilities by improving access to essential services and facilities.
